Workshop with A. Sabine Schröder-Gravendyck
Being the harvest of one year, a whole fleece offers a wide range of options. At the same time, an entire fleece might be also feel a bit scary.
We will walk through the entire process: skirting, sorting, washing, and carding/combing. After these steps, we will have fiber available for crafts like spinning, knitting, crocheting, weaving and felting. The dirty and “shoddy” parts of the fleece left over raise the question of how those can be used. Often considered a problem for fleece owners, they are in fact valuable. There are numerous options you have in your house, yard, and garden to use the unique properties of wool. Our work will lead us to discover the various qualities of different parts of the fleece. With hands-on activities, we will learn to use the fleece for many purposes.
By the end of the workshop you will have an overview what you can do with a whole fleece. This will give you confidence to decide what fleece you want.
